Coronavirus Lock down - Your Skin Will Thank You!

Keeping safe indoors, find out how that benefits your skin...

The nation is suffering a huge pandemic with the coronavirus and many of us, stopped working, closed businesses and worried how the next few weeks will pan out...

Its worrying times and a lot of businesses have temporarily closed even myself! I absolutely love what I do & it broke my heart that I had to stop offering mobile nail & beauty services. However we need to be taking this situation seriously because & we need to follow the strict government instructions because this will help to the spread of coronavirus.

While most of the world is in lock down, what do we do about our skin & nails during this pandemic? We hope these few tips help....

Make the most of the nation’s health lock down and give your skin a much-needed breather. New ongoing research reveals how airborne pollutants affect how your skin looks, feels and even how it ages.

Lock down Tip

Use a minimum SPF of 30 or, better yet, SPF 50, daily. If you can’t get to the shop and have some left over from your last holiday, use that.

It’s better than nothing – SPF creams can remain effective for up to three years

Our skin is the first layer that comes into contact with the outside world, acting as a protective barrier from the environment.

Keeping it clean is important, but washing until you get that scrubbed feeling can strip the face of its natural oils, leaving it dry, sensitive and red.

This can lead to the skin overcompensating in oil production, blocking pores and triggering breakouts.

Use only tepid or cold water when washing your face.

Lock down Tip

Use a cleanser that’s right for your skin type. If you run out, combine milk with a few drops of lemon for a moisturising cleanser.

Mobiles may look clean but they are extremely dirty. They are a breeding ground for bacteria – and when you press your phone to the side of your face it can stimulate oil glands. This might cause a blemish or infection in broken skin.

Lock down Tip

Wipe your phone daily with an antibacterial wipe.

Coronavirus advice is to avoid touching your face as much as possible, so wearing headphones or going hands-free may help. Don’t forget to regularly clean headsets and keyboards if working from home.

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.

Coronavirus, or Covid-19, is a global pandemic that has killed thousands and had an immeasurable impact on normal life. The UK government has brought in hard measures to delay its spread. Bars and restaurants are shut and gatherings of more than two people are banned. The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are a high temperature and a new, continuous cough.

Everyone must stay at home to help stop coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading. Wash your hands with soap and water often to reduce the risk of infection. PLEASE BE SAFE

It’s important to exfoliate to remove dead cells, but over-doing it can cause damage to the skin barrier and allow bacteria in. Make sure to get a gentle exfoliating product that's not too harsh on the skin, personally I'd recommend something from the 'Simple' range. I have been using the 'simple' products and find that they've really helped my skin. Thumbs up for me!

Make sure to moisturise afterwards!

Lock down Tip

There are lots of things we can use at home that can help your skin while shops are shut.

Try banana, honey, coconut oil, egg whites or oats on dry skin.

For oily skin - skip the banana and oil, and add a dollop of natural yogurt.

It seems like being in lock down can help our skin quit a bit, although its not the ideal situation at least our skin will THANK US! :)

We hope this has helped

Please keep safe xx
